Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving 2018 was a nice, cosy, cheerful night with a variety of delicious food in ample abundance. The dinner started at around 7pm with the Annexe furniture rearranged to form two dining tables to allow about 30-35 people to sit and enjoy the nicely prepared food and drink. Julia and Rose, who had taken the lead in arranging the celebration had done a great job with the mise-en-place, the choice of dishes, and with galvanising the Ertegun House community to exercise their culinary skills.

The night started with some warm words of welcome, when Mica Ertegun and Linda Wachner joined us by pone for an exchange of Thanksgiving greetings just before the start of the meal. After this cordial exchange, which put everyone in an even more cheerful mood, we got down to the serious business of tucking in to the delicious foods. I remember returning to some of the dishes several times, and I certainly was not alone in this! Conversations were warm, very friendly and full of laughter. The meal lasted about two hours, and once it was over, everybody assisted in clearing the tables and dishes, so that the House was ready for the start of the working week on Monday morning.

It was a great Thanksgiving night - continuing the splendid tradition initiated in 2017. Thanksgiving is the perfect festival for us all to remember how grateful we are to Mica Ertegun and the Ertegun Board for giving us the chance to enjoy such a pleasant evening under the hospitable roof of the Ertegun House.
