At the beginning of Hilary Term, I was elected to a five-year postdoctoral research fellowship in Modern Languages at All Souls College, following a three-part application process which included a viva in the presence of over 50 fellows of the college. (An additional nerve-racking experience was a dinner with all fellows and other interviewed candidates, but I was assured that it didn’t form part of the assessment.) I'm overjoyed and very excited to join the college in October, although it will be hard to tear myself away from my Ertegun desk (let alone the ultra-comfortable chair!). Humanities postdocs are like gold dust, so I'm very fortunate to join the ranks of Ertegun alumni who have managed to secure one – and I’m rooting for all those who are still on the hunt. I am extremely grateful to everybody at Ertegun House who has supported me through the application process, and am already planning a tour of All Souls for Ertegun scholars next year!
