The Ashmolean Museum, in order to celebrate a recent purchase, William Turner’s view of the High Street, ran a competition for contemporary photographs of Oxford, whether of its buildings or its life. Ertegun Alumnus Tobias Tan was one of the shortlisted competitors, for his photograph of fellow Ertegun Scholar, Charlie Draper, still in full academic dress, opening a champagne bottle to mark the end of his exams. Also in the photograph, on a somewhat chilly day in Christ Church Meadow, are Scholar Jacob Meister and Director Bryan Ward-Perkins. Tobias’ photograph was put on show, with all the shortlisted entries, in the Ashmolean’s café.
